Clowns at Work

Clowns at Work are explorers of new ways of creating variety shows, site-specific performances and street theatre through the use of different comic languages. The ensemble believes in creating original work through improvisation, experimentation, play and the use of their different cultural backgrounds.
Clowns at Work was formed in the UK in 2009 from graduates of the London International School of Performing Arts. Utilizing clowns, outrageous characters, black humour and mask work, their aim to break boundaries and inspire audience.













Macabaret


From the scariest five corners of the world! In a city known for it’s Ripping Jack. In a box of theatre that is black. Clowns at Work presents MACABARET! This piece is an investigation into the world of macabre and horror through a naïve lens of a clown.

Superman the Show


On the street, in a theatre and even at a comic book shop, six actors recreated the classic movie of the 1970’ “Superman” condensing the entire story in a ten minutes performance on a platform measuring two square meters!

Marc Frost, co-founder of Clowns at Work, is currently on tour with “Superman 2050”, a further developed version of the original show.











On the Way to the Opera


As part of the Royal Opera House production park opening, a magnificent installation was built by internationally renowned artist Tony Hornecker. The outdoor performance took place in four towers of eight meters height, illustrating the process of a costume, from the first stitch to the stage.

Chairmania


Chairmania explores the boundaries between theatrical space and audience portraying the relationship between figures in a surreal world. The characters’ passion for chairs slowly reveal a dark absurd look into human relationships and lust for power. Directed by Yarit Dor, performed at the Battersea Arts Centre's Scratch Night 2009, Southwark Playhouse's Secrets 2009 and Show Us Your Bits at the Soho Theatre. In 2010 Battersea Arts Centre offered a week residency to develop further Chairmania into a 30 min performance.










Kiki & Ischta


Kiki, the greatest painter of all times, presents his jaw-dropping works live on stage. Obsessed with his muse, he gets carried away by his own folly.
‘The painter and the model’ was first created as Daniela final project at LISPA, further presented at The Others, London 2009.













Surprise Limited


A show, which invests to surprise the audience as much as its players, explores an elementary subject in performance – the surprise itself. Expectation turns into disappointment, delight and fear - or maybe nothing at all is happening.
